This past weekend I lacerated my spleen (for the second time!) and was released from the hospital yesterday. Sometime in there I lost my wallet with my ID and health insurance card among some other things. I have a description for pain pills but only have a passport. If I don't have my health insurance card will they charge me full price? My license is in NY and I live in utah. How much of a pain in the ass will it be to get a Utah license without proof I had a license before?

You should be able to get your card online from your insurance company, also if you've had prescriptions sent to the pharmacy before they'll have your info on file and you only have to prove your identity.

I will have to check on that. Still on the parents for another year so I guess they can see technically. Thanks!

PC to intermountain in Murray. But yeah I need to have my parents check. I don't really have any access to any of that in my paperwork. I'm just hoping I can get some info on my past license so I do t have to retake a driving test or anything.

Did you have a Utah license before? or just a NYC one? Also, regarding insurance, if they bill you as uninsured, just call the number on the bill and talk to them, they will work with you to get things sorted out, they are motivated to help you by mission and financially. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

no utah license before. I had meaning to one of these weeks. I'm not worried about the insurance anymore and really almost don't even need the pain pills.

This may sound stupid, but if you don't need the pain meds anymore please dispose of them properly. I just got done editing several pieces on opioid abuse about people who died because they had easy access to pain meds that weren't theirs. Glad to hear you are recovering well though. As for the DL, check with the NY DMV and get your license number, then call a DMV agent and find out what you need to do with that info.

oh! Might have that on some paperwork downstairs or definitely with the rental app I filled out recently. Pain meds I don't necessarily need but it is definitely pushing through a good deal. I'm hoping it backs off soon. I also want to get back to work soon and for sure shouldn't be on them in the least bit for that. Probably better if I don't get them.

im working with doctors within this system to study to prescription habits for narcotics and their outcomes to change the way doctors prescribe in an effort to reduce opioid abuse in Utah, so its near and dear to my heart. The long and skinny of it is that doctors typically overperscribe by 50% or more and that prescribing less doesn't seem to make any difference in pain management outcomes by the patient. Also, I learned during the course of this that drug detox is EXPENSIVE! like 100-200 GRAND a session and many of the people there got their start in pain meds. Sad Stuff.

that's crazy how expensive detox is. We are always putting ads in the paper for opiod dependence
